We have been working with Transport for NSW to enhance the online Fitness to Drive medical assessment process. Key updates to the online forms launched in August 2025 and further enhancements were made to the forms in November 2025. Additional updates are scheduled to go live on 18 May 2026 and include the digitisation of Transport for NSW’s Alcohol Interlock Program Recommendation form. You can now submit your patient’s medical assessment to exit their Alcohol Interlock Program online via HealthLink through your practice management system.
The updates will speed up the time it takes to process your patient’s medical assessment and at times, may save your patients time and money, such as fewer trips to the doctor and Service NSW.

Key improvements:

  • Digitisation of the Alcohol Interlock Program Recommendation form;
  • A decrease to the medical review frequency for 17 medical conditions which can be manually overwritten by medical practitioners;
  • Displaying text prompts and pop-up warnings to guide medical practitioners in completing the forms;
  • Improved alignment with the Assessing Fitness to Drive standards;
  • Simplification and removal of duplicate questions across forms; and
  • Routine system maintenance and minor bug fixes.
