How Public Key Infrastructure (PKI) works
Step 1

Patient information is validated and encrypted automatically by the sender’s HealthLink software.

Step 2

This encrypted message is then securely sent through the internet.

Step 3

The encrypted message is stored temporarily in the recipient’s HealthLink account.

Step 4

Authentication is required to retrieve the message from HealthLink messaging servers. Patient information is then passed to the EMR.
