GPs and digital health innovators link up to solve ‘real problems’ in general practice at RACGP Hackathon
HealthLink Named Major Innovation Partner at event
The Royal Australian College of General Practitioners (RACGP) has confirmed the final program details for its upcoming Hackathon, with digital messaging provider HealthLink announced as the event’s Major Innovation Partner.
The RACGP Hackathon will take place from 13–15 March in Sydney, hosted by Amazon Web Services. The three-day event will bring together GPs, developers and digital health innovators to build practical technology solutions for challenges faced in general practice.
HealthLink will support the event with mentorship and a 50,000AUD cash prize for the winning GP team, helping participants turn ideas into working prototypes that can improve care delivery and practice efficiency.
Dr Sean Stevens, Chair of RACGP Specific Interests Digital Health, said the Hackathon gives GPs a rare opportunity to shape the future of digital health tools used in everyday practice.
“GPs work with digital systems every day and understand where they can work better,” he said.
“The RACGP Hackathon creates space for clinicians, developers and innovators to work together and build practical solutions to real problems in general practice.
“We’re pleased to welcome HealthLink as our Major Innovation Partner. Their support will help participants turn ideas into tools that can strengthen patient care and improve how practices operate.”
Teams will compete to design and prototype solutions based on the challenges they see in their own clinical work. Participants will collaborate across disciplines to test ideas, refine concepts and present their solutions to a judging panel at the end of the event.
David Young, Managing Director at Lanas – home of HealthLink – said the partnership reflects the company’s commitment to supporting innovation driven by clinicians.
“The RACGP Hackathon brings together people who understand the real challenges in healthcare and want to solve them,” Mr Young said.
“We’re proud to support the event and the GP teams taking part. Initiatives like this help drive practical innovation that benefits clinicians and patients.”
The RACGP Hackathon aims to foster collaboration across the digital health ecosystem while supporting new ideas that can improve care, strengthen practice sustainability and enhance the patient experience.
